Deviant Arts: the killer tapes

The Shadow Hunter
continues to slash thru the snake holes of Basilisk as the serpent blood of Lord Naga's terror cells overflow in the Bronze Tiger's quest to cut off the head of Lord Naga himself. The snake tracks leads the Tiger to a manufacturing company full of reptile genetic abominations, ready to be fully released onto a suburban town where deaths have been swelling. This time it seems like a familiar cat has been on the trail of these same snakes. Catman,  finding himself overwhelmed and out numbered, is assisted as the Bronze Tiger descends from the rafters. The Shadow Hunter and the assassin of the Secret Six face .......

Death from the eyes of the Kobra

For those of you who don't know who Thomas Blake aka: Catman is
He's a member and former leader of the Secret Six.
And if you do know Catman you know the guy is no joke.
Along with OG killa Benjamin Turner
the snakes don't stand a chance ..... or do they?

What do you think of the Bronze Tiger / Catman team up?

  1. Cool, cool man! I do loves me some Catman, yes I have that figure too:)

I'd love to see a proper team-up between just these two, but since DC's stuck in ret-con land that shit's not going to happen anytime soon. So I appreciate what you're doing here. I know they fought each other during those Blackest Night issues of Secret Six and Suicide Squad, and for the most part it looked like Ben was going to win until Black pulled what he pulled. But still a team-up would be really fun to watch. I myself, wouldn't mind seeing Gail Simone w/ John Ostrander writing this thing, since Simone wrote all of Blake's Secret Six adventures, and those BL issues, so yeah I'd like to see that. As for who they'd fight: I think you had a pretty damn good idea w/them going after Kobra/Basilisk, so I'd keep that.

Nice and very sweet art my man. Keep it up!

  2. I remember us talking about about this before, and it was something I wanted to see myself, so I put the two together like a reeses cup. Personally watching these two guys go after bad guys in a one shot doing what they do (see illustration) would ignite flames.

I have been dying to see BT cut loose, and I hear that Kobra (Lord Naga) is going to show up in the next Suicide Squad issue. Of course his name will be Regulatus or something like that but the cover looks kick ass.

    1. well as it stands with the current writing direction it looks like Black Spider is more likely to have some kind of confrontation with this fucken Regulatus. another fucken name that i hate! i really miss how the Kobra minions used to say "hail naga naga" before they bite on their cyanide tooth and die. Aside from the Suicide Squad and Checkmate their was some really good Kobra action in some of the issues of Batman & The Outsiders. penciled by Alan Davis which made them even more awesome. and then of course there were the original run of the Kobra title from the 70s. of the 7 issues i had found all but #6 in the 3 for a dollar bins at this comic shop loved as a kid in Berkeley on Telegraph Ave. those were the days!

    2. This seems to be the case, and Rgeulatus, really.? At one time Kobra was betrayed as some type of anti hero in his 70's mini series. I havn't read those, I want em in my collection though.

Kobra has been around for awhile making some great appearances and is clearly one of the big guns in the DCU. I'm going to hate if the real Lord Naga doesn't show up at some point.

Naga Naga!!! I want the Tiger to kill em all.

  3. Hope you were able to find that Wizard issue or at least possibly find the article online 'Mega.

I'll admit straight up that I never did read the Raise the Flagg mini, but thanks to the power of wiki afterwards, I was able find out that it simply helped set up things for a possible SS reunion. Of course that didn't happen, although with Checkmate running at the time, that's where the follow up to that mini occurred right? I'm sure you or Shlomo can verify that for me.

Damn the 70's were a crazy period/time for DC huh? You had, unless I'm wrong so feel free o correct me, at least 3 villain mini's going on at the time: Kobra, The Joker, and The Secret Society of Super-Villains, all going on around the same time frame. Crazy.
I'm curious as to how in the hell Kobra even rated a mini. Joker and the SSOV sure, but Kobra? Someone obviously was a big fan, either that or they had a major snake fetish going on. Good fucking lord!:)

    1. Dale, you don't know, I don't know, maybe Shlomo knows what was going on. And I know that none of us know what's going on now. All we can do is hold tight to this runaway train that is the new DCU.

    2. OA1, do i sound like a guy who knows what's going on with DC? i'm at a point now where i've jump that train and just like to talk trash on the internet.

  4. back in the day i had a custom made Boba Fett costume and later i made one so i could dress up as a klingon complete with forehead prosthetic.
by the way i know what you mean about the whole voice actor thing. when i first started watch Young Justice i recognized Bruce Greenwood's voice as Batman. which immediately made me start thinking of all the movies i've seen him in which can be a bit distracting when trying to watch the show. but that aside he's a great voice for Batman and now i'm used to it now.
by the way, i know all about "making things happen" by keeping the life support system on past comic titles (Rom). although at the moment i'm plum outta postings to publish on the SS blog so it might be a little while till you see something new. unless of course something just falls into my lap again like Adam Glass commenting on the blog or another cool find in a dollar bin.

  5. I gotcha my friend, this new SS series makes it hard to post anything but static frequency. I read issue 11 and it's sorry lame and cliche. I'll be talking about it tomorrow.

I hope people don't think I only want to post negative remarks after the Spiderman post because I do try to keep it balanced

Boba Fett, dude your the coolest cutter at camp. Bad as I want some mandalorian armor and you have some. WOW. Dave I don't have any TRUE comic book friends, I went to an art school so I know and have comic assossiates. But to gear up and do Comic Con, I am the Kamandi of GA. when I get back, my pass would probably be revoked, naa maybe suspended.

Who gives a crap, I'm going to do a comic con.

    1. ya know what's weird? of all the people i've met online related to all this comic book sci-fi stuff i've never come across people around here in the SF Bay Area or in California for that matter. i don't know how that's possible did you know i live within about 30 -35 minutes of 6 comic shops? and that includes one in my home town of Castro Valley.
anyways, i made some new fan art yesterday i'll either post it later today or tomorrow. and yes it does include some BT. doing some fan art is always a good fall back thing when you don't feel like you've got anything new to talk about.
